Well, today is the 11th of March 2014 and yet another day to be grateful for life. My life has changed dramatically over the last year or so and I know that it most certainly is tied to the decisions that I've made and the words that I vocalize to myself everyday.
We have a tendency to get stuck in patterns, good habits or bad habits, and we allow these patterns to govern us. Have you ever stopped to think about what you're actually thinking about?! lol There's a ton of growth that can come from learning to be an observer of your thoughts and allowing yourself to let go of the views that are negative in nature. It will dumb-found you when you realize how much you talk shit to yourself... trust me. lol I was the king of kicking my own ass on a daily basis. We are conditioned to believe that we are not worthy of an amazing life, or that we are stuck working the shit job that we dread. You and I have every bit of right to decide what it is that we want for our lives. It is a choice, believe it or not. If the position you are currently in is not of your liking, I can assure you that It is because of decisions that you have made leading up to this very moment. Your life is a direct reflection of what's going on up in that noggin. How do you want your tomorrow to pan out? Start visualizing it today and you might surprise yourself. Much love friends. :) I'm done preaching. ha

I'm quite certain that my "Inner Hipster" is what originally attracted me to the tune of Bon Iver. haha Either way, I've been revisiting Justin's records frequently over the last few years.
My brother and I caught a Bon Iver show last year at the Brady Theatre in Tulsa Oklahoma and it was a spiritual experience to say the least. :) The light show was beyond anything I'd ever seen, and the energy in the room pretty much moved me to tears at a few points... Justin was such an awkward guy on stage when he tried to talk to the audience, but he was as honest as can be and everyone really respected and appreciated that... a very unified energy encompassed the place. He didn't have to say much because his art spoke for itself.
Here's my latest Youtube vid covering one of Vernon's creations.
As many of you know, I just released my third full - length album entitled "ELEVEN". It came out on January 1st and it's a summation of the last few years of my life. Songs like "Limbo" actually date back as far as 7+ years. I find myself writing frequently but most of the songs are set aside because I don't feel settled on a particular section... verse/chorus etc.. and I feel that the best way to finish a song is to give it some space. The only problem with this equation is that I sometimes lose songs in the mix of hundreds recorded to my voice recorder, phone, computer hard drive... and the list goes on. haha Although, I'm convinced that my intuition has a way of nudging me back to an unfinished song when I've lived through an experience that deems fitting to its closure.
Well... Good day friends, fans, and anyone else randomly reading this crap. lol spread your positive energy!!

Last night I played The Courtside Club located on court level of the Chesapeake Arena, here in Oklahoma City. I had the honor of entertaining folks after the Thunder took home a win. This is my 3rd season playing in the VIP lounge and last night felt really good. Since I've been out on the road for the last couple months I've missed most of the home games thus far, so this was my first time back in a while. The regulars were very welcoming so it made it pretty easy for me to play to my best.
I have the next couple weeks off until my gig schedule starts picking up again, so I'm looking to focus on creating more video content for my Youtube fans and getting the groundwork down for my next album. I've got about 40 + song ideas that I've been tossing around so a lot of work that I'm excited for! The next record is going to be much more guitar driven and way less produced than my current record "ELEVEN". Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of "ELEVEN", but I feel like my next record should stick to the basics... guitar and vocals. I'll probably change my mind about 20 times come time to actually laying down tracks for the project, so don't hold me to it. ha
This is truly my first written blog post so I'm not all that good at it. lol I don't do much else other than work and play music so I feel this might be therapeutic for me to journal my thoughts down, and I suppose I'll let you all in on it as well. ha
In the past I was a rather reserved individual that liked his privacy. I've found that the more I share my music, the more I'm actually interested in sharing a message along with it. The only way to do so, is to truly open up. :) I suppose I haven't been as personal with you (my fans) as I'd like to be so this first blog is my attempt in beginning the process.
My first tour for 2014 lasted roughly 45 days and it was an amazing experience. I met a ton of great people and I think I left a lasting impression on a few of them. My main goal is to inspire as many as I can before it's my time to go. There really isn't much of a better gift than that little spark. It's what I live for. :)
cheers
